About

Libice nad Cidlinou is a historically significant archaeological site located in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Established as a Slavic settlement in the 6th century CE, it became a prominent gord under the Slavník family by the 9th century. This site witnessed pivotal historical events, including its annexation by Bohemian Duke Boleslaus II in 995 CE. The gord, functioning as an administrative center, was home to notable figures such as Božej of the Vršovci family in the 12th century. Though destroyed by fire in 1130 CE, the village was rebuilt, leaving a legacy of structures, including a church from the 14th century. The site is renowned for its historical and archaeological significance, with remnants of its past declared a national cultural monument.
