About

Orolik is a village in the Vukovar-Syrmia County of eastern Croatia, notable for its archaeological significance due to the discovery of a settlement from the Late Iron Age. This site was part of the Scordisci culture, a Celtic tribe that inhabited the region around Vinkovci. The archaeological findings, uncovered during rescue excavations in the 1970s and 1980s, provide insights into the settlement patterns and cultural interactions of the Scordisci during the Late Iron Age. The village of Orolik itself was established in the 16th century during the Ottoman era and later developed into a community with diverse religious demographics, as recorded in historical documents. The site offers a valuable perspective on the cultural transitions from the prehistoric to the historic period in this region.
