About
Alaminos, a village in the Larnaca District of Cyprus, is an archaeological site of considerable historical depth. Notably, it is the location where a Chalcolithic 'lactation' figurine was unearthed, indicating early human settlement during the 4th millennium BCE. The site also bears witness to medieval religious life, as evidenced by the presence of a monastery formerly operated by Georgian monks from the 12th to the 16th century CE. Moreover, a Venetian coastal watchtower, still standing today, suggests the strategic importance of the area during the 16th century CE. The archaeological discoveries in Alaminos, including the ruins of a church and several graves, provide a cross-section of its diverse historical timeline, encompassing periods of both religious significance and military utility.
