About

Ma'agan Michael is a modern kibbutz located on the Mediterranean coast in northern Israel. Founded in 1949, it is situated on land that was initially marshland and has undergone significant transformation, including drainage projects initiated in the 1920s. The site includes extensive fish ponds, contributing to its aquaculture industry, and agricultural fields that produce crops such as cotton and avocados, as well as various exotic fruits. The kibbutz also engages in industrial activities, notably through its plastics factory, Plasson, which is a major source of income. Despite its modern focus, the site showcases the significant land reclamation and community-building efforts of the mid-20th century, reflecting the broader historical narrative of Israeli settlement and development.
