About
The Trinity Hoard, unearthed in 2012 in Jersey, is a significant archaeological find from the Late Bronze Age, approximately dated to around 1000 BCE. This collection consists of 25 bronze axeheads, including 23 initially discovered, housed within a damaged pottery container. The high lead content of the bronze suggests these axeheads were not intended for practical use, but rather served as prestige items, indicative of wealth accumulation during that period. The hoard underscores the complexity and social stratification of Late Bronze Age societies in the region. It was discovered by a metal detectorist and is currently under the care of Jersey Heritage. The find offers invaluable insights into the material culture and metallurgical practices of the time.
