About

The Paldenica archaeological site, located near the village of Paldenica in Kosovo, reveals significant Roman period activity. Situated strategically above a hill near the Pristina-Skopje road, the site offers a broad overview of the Lepenc gorge and the town of Hani i Elezit. Archaeological evidence points to the presence of a Roman necropolis, dating from the 2nd to 3rd centuries CE, characterized by numerous artifacts including a bronze cast belt with millefiori glass decorations. Additionally, a marble stelae and column bases were discovered, suggesting the site's role as a Roman settlement. The nearby terrain potentially indicates an ancient Roman road station, emphasizing the site's importance in connecting ancient Scupi (Skopje) with Ulpiana.
