About
The Goloring is a Bronze Age earthwork monument located near Koblenz, Germany, dating back to the Urnfield culture between 1200-800 BCE. It features a circular ditch with an embankment, resembling British henge structures from the same era. The site includes a central leveled platform constructed from gravelled rock, and remnants of a large wooden post, possibly used for astronomical alignments. The Goloring is thought to serve as a calendar, aligning with significant dates related to agricultural practices and Celtic festivals, indicating its ritualistic significance. Although currently inaccessible to the public, plans are underway to develop the site into a historic park, underscoring its archaeological and cultural importance.
