About

Kafr Kanna is a historically significant town in the Galilee region, with archaeological evidence revealing continuous settlement from the Neolithic through to the Contemporary period. It is known for its association with biblical events, notably being identified as the New Testament village of Cana. Archaeological excavations have uncovered structures such as a Neolithic settlement, Early Bronze Age fortifications, a 4th-century BCE pottery kiln, and various religious and ritual structures from the Roman and Byzantine periods. Over the centuries, Kafr Kanna evolved into a significant market town under Ottoman rule and continued to develop through the British Mandate period. The town's rich history is reflected in its diverse population and cultural heritage, encompassing Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities.
