About

Beruas, located in Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia, is an archaeological site of significant historical importance. It was the capital of the ancient Hindu kingdom known as Gangga Negara, which existed before the region was named Perak. Gangga Negara, believed to have been founded in the 2nd century CE, is mentioned in the Malay Annals and encompassed areas that are now Beruas, Dinding, and Manjung. The kingdom thrived until it was attacked by the Chola Empire in 1025 CE. Archaeological discoveries in Beruas, including artifacts from the 5th and 6th centuries CE, provide insight into the cultural and historical context of this ancient civilization. The Beruas Museum houses many of these artifacts, offering a glimpse into the region's rich past.
