About

Quljeed is a modern town located in the western Awdal region of Somaliland, approximately 30 kilometers northwest of Borama. It is primarily inhabited by the Reer Dudub branch of the Jibriil Yoonis subclan, which is part of the larger Gadabuursi Dir clan. From an archaeological perspective, the town represents a contemporary habitation structure, providing insights into the current socio-cultural dynamics and settlement patterns in Somaliland. Notably, Quljeed is recognized as the birthplace of Dahir Riyale Kahin, who served as the third President of Somaliland. This association with a significant political figure adds to the town's modern historical importance, although it does not present any ancient archaeological features or periods.
