About
The Torre del Arroyo del Lobo is a medieval defensive tower located near Algeciras, Spain, strategically positioned to oversee the coastline from Punta Carnero to Punta de San García. Situated at 76.3 meters above sea level and approximately 935 meters from the coast, the tower played a crucial role in the defensive system of the Strait of Gibraltar during the Middle Ages. The rectangular structure, originally reaching heights of up to 13 meters, now stands in a ruined state, not exceeding six meters. Despite its dilapidated condition, the tower retains access to its two floors and basement via stairs. Recognized for its historical significance, it was designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural site in 1985, reflecting its importance in the regional defensive history of the Iberian Peninsula.
