The Blagaj Fortress, located near the town of Blagaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is an archaeological site of significant historical importance. Perched on an inaccessible karst hill, the fortress complex includes features from various periods, with evidence of prehistoric, Roman, medieval, and Ottoman occupations. The site encompasses defensive structures like fortresses, towers, and ramparts, as well as religious elements such as a church attributed to Prince Miroslav. The fortress has a complex history, having served as a key location for regional governance and defense. Over centuries, it underwent several phases of construction and repair, particularly by the Ottomans. The site also holds a burial ground, highlighting its long-standing significance to the local community. Declared a national monument in 2003, the Blagaj Fortress remains a testament to the region's rich historical tapestry.
