About
The Cim Early Christian Basilica, located in the Crkvine suburb of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is an archaeological site of significant historical importance. Dating back to the 5th–6th century CE, the site comprises the remains of a late Roman basilica, which served as both a religious and burial site. The basilica features typical elements of early Christian architecture, including a narthex, nave, presbytery, and altar, as well as a memorial chapel. Extensive archaeological excavations have revealed a range of artifacts, such as antique tiles, pottery, and stone decorations with floral and religious motifs. These findings reflect the site's importance as a religious center, potentially linked to the Diocese of Sarsenterum. The presence of numerous graves and tombs, spanning from the basilica's construction to the late Middle Ages, underscores its prolonged significance as a sacred site.
