Old town of Visoki

About
The Old Town of Visoki was a significant medieval castle town situated atop the Visočica hill in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Established in the 14th century, it served as a strategic defensive position and a central location for issuing charters by Bosnian rulers, notably first mentioned in a document by Tvrtko I in 1355 CE. The town comprised defensive features such as a castle, lookout towers, and walls approximately 2 meters thick, encapsulating a small area known as Podvisoki, which included early medieval houses. The town's advantageous position allowed for extensive views over the surrounding plains and mountains. Despite its prominence, Visoki was presumably abandoned by the early 16th century, as it was not cited in the 1503 Turkish-Hungarian treaty and noted as abandoned by the mid-17th century.
