About

Rumicolca is an archaeological site located in the Cusco Region of Peru, within the Lucre District of Quispicanchi Province. The site is significant for its stone gate, which is believed to have served both as a defensive structure and as an aqueduct for water management. Situated near other important archaeological sites, such as Chuqi Pukyu and Pikillaqta, Rumicolca's construction is often attributed to the Inca civilization, dating back to the late Post-Classical Period. The site offers insight into Incan architectural techniques and their adaptation to the Andean environment. Rumicolca stands as a testament to the engineering prowess of the Incas, with its dual purpose as both a protective gate and a functional aqueduct system.
