About

Alampra, located in the Nicosia District of Cyprus, is an archaeological site revealing a Middle Bronze Age settlement dating back to around 1900 BCE. The site features some of the earliest known rectangular houses in Cyprus, indicative of evolving architectural practices in the region. Excavations uncovered residential buildings with multiple rooms, alongside animal bones including cattle, deer, pig, and goat, which offer insights into the dietary practices of the inhabitants. The discovery of ceramics and ceramic figurines aids in understanding the development of Bronze Age pottery on the island. Copper objects were also found, although there is no evidence of copper processing activities. The findings at Alampra contribute significantly to the understanding of societal and cultural development during the Middle Bronze Age in Cyprus.
