About

Alassa is an archaeological site in the Limassol District of Cyprus, notable for its remnants from the Bronze Age and Roman periods. Excavations in the early 1980s uncovered the ruins of a significant Bronze Age city, including the remains of a palace, indicating its former role as a vital local trading center. The site's historical significance is further underscored by the possible connection to the ancient kingdom of Alashiya. In addition to its Bronze Age features, Alassa also holds evidence of Roman occupation, with the discovery of villas and a mosaic floor depicting Aphrodite and Eros, which is now housed in the Limassol museum. These findings highlight Alassa's importance in both ancient trade and cultural exchange.
