About
The Eremitage Maria Reizenborn, also known as Räzebore, is a significant archaeological site located in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany. This former hermitage is situated on a historic pilgrimage route and features remnants of a sanctuary built by the Celts around 1000 CE, emphasizing its long-standing religious significance. The site saw its first hermit occupation in 1718, and a chapel was consecrated in 1732, supporting local pilgrimages. A larger church was constructed in 1775 but later abandoned in 1796 due to the French wars. The site's archaeological importance is highlighted by the preserved foundations of its religious structures, offering insights into the region's spiritual and cultural history.
