About

Tel Shor, also known as Tell Thorah, is an archaeological site located in the western Jezreel Valley. The site features a small settlement mound rising 5-6 meters above the surrounding alluvial plain, with artifacts spanning from the Early Bronze Age through to the modern era. Key discoveries include a Roman-era mausoleum, numerous Persian-period burials, and artifacts from various periods, including a Greek-imported clay figurine. The site's location near springs and a marsh suggests a favorable environment for ancient habitation. It is also possibly linked to the biblical town of Maralah. The site provides valuable insights into the continuous human presence and evolving cultural practices in this region over several millennia.
