About

Koshoy Korgon, located in the At-Bashy District of Kyrgyzstan, is a mysterious archaeological site characterized by its ruined mud walls that form a large enclosed area. This structure is identified as a 'korgon,' or fortress, distinct from the burial mounds known as 'kurgans.' Although the precise date of its construction remains uncertain, it is traditionally associated with Qoshoy baatyr, a general under the legendary Kyrgyz hero Manas. The fortress's strategic location near Kara-Suu and At-Bashy villages suggests its historical significance in regional defense or control. Despite its potential historical value, the site currently features an infrequently open museum, making it an underexplored location in Central Asian archaeology.
