About
Hajar al-Nasr is an ancient fortress located in northern Morocco, constructed in the 10th century by the Idrisid dynasty. Overlooking the headwaters of a tributary of the Loukkos River, it served as a strategic and protective site for the Idrisid rulers. Although its location was elusive to historians for centuries, it was confirmed in the late 20th century. The visible remains of the site include sections of ramparts and steps, all constructed with massive stone blocks. This site holds significant archaeological value as it provides insight into the defensive architecture and strategic settlement choices of the Idrisid dynasty during the Early Post-Classical Period.
