About
Jebel al-Salayli is an archaeologically significant site in Northern Sharqiyah, Oman, known primarily for its Early Iron Age hut tombs and settlement ruins. The site features an abandoned copper mine and extensive slag fields, suggesting a history of metalworking activities. The settlement remains indicate occupation during both the Early Iron Age, around 1200 BCE, and the Muslim Period in the 10th century CE. Nestled between mountains, the site is remarkably well-preserved, providing a glimpse into the region's early metallurgical and funerary practices. Its location near a wadi and proximity to an ancient copper mine highlight the strategic and resource-rich setting that likely influenced its historical significance.
