Miejsce, Opole Voivodeship

Miejsce, a village in Opole Voivodeship, Poland, holds significant historical and archaeological value due to its medieval origins and features. Established during the Middle Ages as a part of Piast-ruled Poland, Miejsce was granted town rights in 1294. The village is notable for its medieval motte-and-bailey castle, which was prominent from the 13th to the 16th centuries, representing typical defensive architecture of the period. Miejsce's town rights were lost around 1650, marking a shift in its status. Subsequently, in the 18th century, it was annexed by Prussia and later became part of Germany until the end of World War II in 1945, when it reverted to Polish sovereignty.
