The archaeological site of Cieza, located in the Murcia region of Spain, reveals a rich tapestry of human occupation from the Upper Paleolithic period through to the Late Post-Classical period. Notable archaeological excavations in areas such as Almadenes, La Serreta, and Barranco de los Grajos have unearthed artifacts from the Iberian, Roman, Visigothic, and Arabic periods. The site includes a significant Arabic fortress from the eleventh to thirteenth centuries, known as Medina Siyâsa, with decorative architectural elements and artifacts housed in the museum of Siyâsa. The town also features religious structures from the classical and post-classical periods, such as the Basílica de la Asunción and the Iglesia de San Joaquín, illustrating its historical evolution and cultural significance.
