About
Beinan Cultural Park, located in Taitung City, Taiwan, is the site of the largest and most complete prehistoric settlement discovered on the island. Spanning over 10,000 square meters, it features more than 1,600 burial sites, marking it as a significant archaeological find. The site provides insight into the Neolithic period in Taiwan, with artifacts such as jade, pottery, and stone tools unearthed here. The park was established to preserve and present these findings, with an indoor/outdoor Museum of Prehistory opening in 2002 to further enhance public understanding of this cultural heritage. The discovery of numerous slate coffins and burial goods underscores the complex societal structures and rituals of the period.
