About

The Chuping Archaeological Site, located in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, Taiwan, is a significant archaeological site that reveals the earliest prehistoric mountain settlements in Taiwan. Discovered in 1980, it is situated in the upper Zhuoshui River valley at an altitude of 750 meters. The site provides valuable insights into the Neolithic period, showcasing evidence of early human habitation in the region. Although the site has been reburied for protection, it holds potential for future educational exhibitions. Recognized for its historical importance, the site was designated Taiwan's 10th national archaeological site by the Ministry of Culture in 2019. It represents a critical link in understanding the prehistoric developments in Taiwan's mountainous areas.
