About

The Fengbitou Archaeological Site, located in Linyuan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is a significant prehistoric site that showcases the progression of human cultures in the region. Spanning an area of 9.7 hectares, the site offers a rich stratigraphy with cultural layers from the Tapenkeng, Niuchoutzi, and Fengpitou cultures, dating back as far as 5200 years ago. Key archaeological findings include cord-marked and painted potteries, stone tools, and other artifacts, which reflect the material culture and daily life of the prehistoric inhabitants. The site's inclusion of both Neolithic and Bronze Age elements provides crucial insights into the cultural transitions over millennia. Today, it stands as a protected national archaeological site, preserving the prehistoric heritage of southwestern Taiwan.
