About
Rumailah is an archaeological site located in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., notable for its thick-walled coral and adobe fort believed to date to the early 20th century. Situated just west of Hili Archaeological Park, the site features a rectangular mound that was home to populations during the late Umm Al Nar period, and later, a significant Iron Age II settlement from around 1100 to 500 BCE. Archaeological discoveries at Rumailah include distinctive pottery with snake motifs, chlorite vessels with turtle and tree decorations, and various metallic artifacts such as Iron Age swords, axe-heads, and bronze arrowheads. The site also contains typical Iron Age buildings, a columned hall, and unique pyramidal seals, establishing connections to other regional sites such as Muweilah and Bidaa Bint Saud.
