The archaeological site at Mezhyrich in Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine, is notable for its prehistoric habitation structures dating back to approximately 15,000 years ago, during the Upper Paleolithic period. The site features four huts constructed from a total of 149 mammoth bones, showcasing the ingenuity of Cro-Magnon humans in using available resources for shelter. These structures provide valuable insight into the domestic life and survival strategies of prehistoric communities in the region. The discovery of mammoth bones, specifically a lower jawbone, underscores the interaction between humans and megafauna during this period.
