About
The ancient site of Sushkivka in Ukraine is a significant archaeological location, representing one of the mega-settlements of the Cucuteni–Trypillia culture. Dating from 3600 to 3200 BCE, this large settlement covered an area of 100 hectares, making it a notable proto-city of its time. As part of the broader Cucuteni–Trypillia culture, which spanned Moldova and Ukraine, Sushkivka is one of 2,440 such settlements identified, with 194 settlements exceeding 10 hectares and over 29 reaching 100 to 450 hectares. This site offers valuable insights into the social and urban development of Neolithic and Chalcolithic societies in Eastern Europe, showcasing early complex community organization and habitation structures.
