About
Nahal Issaron is an archaeological site located in the southern Negev desert of Israel, near the eastern edge of Ovda Valley. This site is significant for its remnants of an early pastoralist settlement dating back to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B period, around the 8th to 7th millennium BCE. Excavations led by archaeologists Avi Gopher and Nigel Goring-Morris revealed evidence of one of the earliest known communities in this region. The settlement provides valuable insights into the lifestyle and adaptation strategies of early Neolithic pastoralists in a challenging desert environment. Its discovery contributes to our understanding of the spread of Neolithic cultures and the development of early human societies in the Near East.
