Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo is an archaeological site located in Jordan, renowned for its significant religious and historical associations. It features the remains of a Byzantine church and monastery, which were originally constructed in the late 4th century CE to commemorate the site of Moses' death. The church, following a basilica layout, was later enlarged in the 5th century CE and underwent reconstruction in 597 CE. Significant artistic elements, such as mosaics, are found within the church, alongside six tombs carved from natural rock. The site has been a prominent pilgrimage destination since antiquity due to its biblical connections, notably as the location where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Mount Nebo remains an important cultural and religious landmark, attracting visitors from around the world.
