About

Aaiha is a village in the Rashaya District of Lebanon, distinguished by its archaeological significance. The site includes the remains of a Roman temple, originally constructed in 92 CE, which is part of the Temples of Mount Hermon group. These ruins, found on a hill overlooking the Aaiha plain, offer insights into Roman architectural styles, with fragments of Corinthian friezes and Greek inscriptions. The village is located near a unique intermittent lake, which forms in a circular basin and is fed by underground streams and fountains. Neolithic flints discovered in the surrounding hills suggest human activity in the area during prehistoric times. The presence of a Druze population and a tomb of a Muslim saint reflects the region's diverse cultural and religious history.
