About

Haret ech Cheikh is an archaeological site located on a wooded hilltop east of the road between Dekwaneh and Jdeideh, approximately 50 meters above sea level. The site features several outcrops of sandstone slabs, which are thought to be the foundations of megalithic structures, although their prehistoric origins have not been fully confirmed. Neolithic and Chalcolithic materials, including flint tools and factory waste, were discovered at the site, indicating its use during these periods. The artifacts suggest that the area was utilized for habitation and tool production. The site holds significant archaeological value for understanding the prehistoric occupation and activities in the Mount Lebanon region.
