About
Kagara, a community in Niger State, Nigeria, is notably recognized for its archaeological significance due to the presence of remnants from the Iron Age Nok culture. This site lies at the far northwest end of the zone of Nok culture, known for its sophisticated terracotta sculptures and early iron smelting techniques. The town of Kagara itself has historically been an important administrative center in the region, but from an archaeological perspective, it offers insights into early settlement patterns and industrial activities during the Early Iron Age. The discovery of Nok culture remains provides valuable information about the technological and artistic capabilities of one of West Africa's earliest complex societies.
