About
The Al Bustān site in Muscat, Oman, is an important archaeological location featuring a cemetery used during the Samad Late Iron Age. This period, spanning from approximately 300 BCE to 500 CE, is characterized by distinct cultural and material developments in the region. The site includes graves that provide insight into the burial practices and societal structures of the time. In 1991, the cemetery gained attention when the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture was informed of its existence, and a German team subsequently excavated several graves. The findings contribute significantly to our understanding of the Late Iron Age in Oman, particularly in terms of funerary customs and the broader socio-cultural context of the Samad society.
