About
Intikancha is an archaeological site located in the Andes of Peru, specifically within the Puno Region, Lampa Province, and Nicasio District. The site is situated at an elevation of approximately 4,400 meters above sea level. Known as the 'sun yard,' Intikancha features an enclosure that likely served a sun-related ceremonial or religious purpose. The site's significance is underscored by its designation as a National Cultural Heritage. The site is south of Pukarani, another notable archaeological location, indicating a region rich in cultural history. While specific dates of construction or occupation are not detailed, the site falls within the Late Post-Classical Period, suggesting it was an important location for indigenous cultures prior to European contact.
