About

The Kadero archaeological site in Central Sudan, located northeast of Khartoum and adjacent to the Nile River, is a significant Neolithic site characterized by its burial grounds and two distinct sand mounds. This site, covering around three hectares, reveals a lifestyle centered on pastoralism, particularly cattle husbandry, with evidence pointing to Kadero as one of the earliest adopters of intensive pastoralism in the area. The site features numerous Neolithic graves and a wealth of artifacts, including pottery, stone tools, and jewelry, suggesting a society with social stratification and established funerary practices. The archaeological findings at Kadero offer a window into the early Khartoum culture of the region, emphasizing its importance as a settlement and burial area from the Neolithic period to the Late Neolithic era.
