About
Stenehed is a significant archaeological site from the Iron Age located in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. The site encompasses approximately 45 graves, indicative of its function as a grave field during the Iron Age period, spanning from 1200 BCE to 500 CE. Key features include a stone circle, a stone ship, and a row of menhirs, which are arranged in height order and suggest an astronomical purpose, similar to that of Stonehenge in England. The tallest standing menhir reaches 3.3 meters, while the shortest is 1.4 meters.
