About

Sir Bani Yas Island, located southwest of Abu Dhabi, UAE, is a significant archaeological site known for its diverse history and natural biodiversity. The island hosts 36 archaeological sites, including a Bronze Age Dilmun trading port and a Nestorian Christian monastery from the 7th century CE. These findings highlight the island's historical importance as a trading hub and a religious site. The island's rich history is complemented by its ecological transformation into a wildlife reserve initiated by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1977. Today, Sir Bani Yas combines archaeological significance with conservation efforts, making it a unique destination for historical and ecological exploration.
