About
Eles, located in the Siliana Governorate of Tunisia, is an archaeological site of considerable significance. The village is renowned for its collection of dolmens, which are ancient stone tomb structures believed to date back to around 2500 BCE. These dolmens are noted for their potential alignment with celestial bodies like Alpha Centauri, though some argue their orientation is due to local topography. Eles also features a layer of geological importance, marking the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary, and was once home to the Roman town of Ululi during the Roman Empire and late antiquity. This combination of prehistoric and classical elements makes Eles a compelling site for archaeological study, illustrating a timeline from the Neolithic to the Roman period.
