About

The Kamenica Tumulus, located in Kamenicë, Korçë County, Albania, is the largest burial monument of its kind in the region. It features a central grave from the 13th century BCE, surrounded by two concentric circles, which is unique in Albania. The tumulus expanded significantly during the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age, eventually containing over 400 graves and 440 skeletons by the 7th century BCE. Noteworthy discoveries include the skeleton of a pregnant woman from 3000 BCE. Conservation efforts in 2007 added protective structures and a museum, enhancing the site's accessibility and educational value.
