About

Dobrovody, located in the Uman Raion of Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine, is a significant archaeological site associated with the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture, dating back to the 4th millennium BCE. Spanning approximately 2.5 km², it was one of the largest cities of its time, possibly housing up to 16,200 residents. The site reveals a complex urban layout characterized by fortified blocks and streets. Archaeological findings include standard-sized dwellings with features typical of the Tomaszów group, such as stoves, benches, altars, and ritual items like a bull's skull. The pottery discovered is predominantly tableware painted with dark brown on orange engobe. The site offers valuable insights into early urbanization, social organization, and ritual practices of the Neolithic period.
