About

Vasu Vihara, also known as Narapatir Dhap, is an important archaeological site located in Shibganj Upazila of Bogra, Bangladesh. This ancient Buddhist monastery complex, dating back to the Pala dynasty of the Early Post-Classical Period, includes five mounds with both large and small monastic structures. The smaller monastery measures 49 by 46 meters, featuring six monk rooms, a veranda, and an auditorium. Numerous artifacts have been uncovered here, including miniature statues, plaques, seals, ornamental bricks, and clay lamps. The site provides significant insights into the Buddhist heritage and monastic life in the region during the 9th century CE, highlighting its cultural and religious importance in historical Bangladesh.
