About
Tappeh Berdankan is an archaeological site located in Farsan County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran. The site is primarily recognized for its significance during the Sasanian era, serving as an administrative center within the province of Gay. It played a pivotal role in facilitating interactions between various provinces of Eranshahr. Although predominantly Sasanian, artifacts from Parthian, Achaemenid, Elamite, and Chalcolithic periods have also been discovered, indicating the site's long-standing historical significance. Unfortunately, extensive illegal excavations have damaged much of the site. However, recent professional excavations have yielded numerous Sasanian-era items, including 559 clay bullae, underscoring its administrative importance. Continuous monitoring ensures its preservation, protecting its archaeological heritage.
